House-Museum of "Fayzulla Khodjaev"
The Fayzulla Khodjaev House-Museum, officially called the «House-Museum of a Wealthy Merchant» reserve-museum, is an example of the traditional residential architecture of 19th-century Bukhara. The house belonged to Ubaydullo Khodja Kasym Khodjaev, a wealthy Bukhara merchant and the father of Fayzulla Khodjaev
About
The house is located in the historic Goziyon quarter. Its owner, Ubaydullo Khoja Kasym Khojaev, was engaged in large-scale international trade, including karakul with Russia and Germany.
The architectural complex is divided into the household, men's and women's parts. The aivans, reception rooms and living rooms are decorated with carving and painting on wood and ganch.
The museum features the exhibitions "The Life of a Wealthy Merchant of the 19th–20th Centuries", materials on the life and work of Fayzulla Khojaev, traditional cuisine and the history of Bukhara's foreign and domestic trade. Among the exhibits are porcelain from 19th-century Russian factories, Bukhara copper and silverware, musical instruments and traditional clothing.
