Lake Dengizkul
Dengizkul is a large salt lake in Bukhara Region and one of Uzbekistan's most important wetlands. The lake is of international importance as a habitat, migration and wintering site for waterfowl and has been included in the Ramsar Convention list since 2001.
About
Dengizkul is a large endorheic salt water body in the desert zone of Bukhara region.
The lake, its shallows and the surrounding areas are of particular conservation value, used by numerous species of waterfowl and near-water birds during migrations and wintering.
In 1992, the state ornithological sanctuary «Dengizkul» was established here, with an area of about 8,600 ha.
