Mausoleum of Khoja Muhammad Arif ar-Revgari ("shining moon")

Khoja Muhammad Arif Revgari was one of the outstanding representatives of the Khojagan tradition. A state source calls him the fourth caliph — spiritual successor — of Abdulkhaliq Gijduvani and the second of the seven revered pirs of Bukhara. After the death of his mentor, Revgari continued the development of his spiritual school.

The honorary name Mohitobon («shining moon») is associated with Revgari. He is credited with the work «Arifnoma», which presents instructions and stories about Abdulkhaliq Gijduvani and the early representatives of the Sufi tradition. A state source indicates that the famous manuscript «Arifnoma» was written in Persian in the year 622 of the Hijra / 1225.

The exact date of Revgari's birth remains a matter of differing accounts. One state material gives around 1166, another directly notes that the exact year of birth is unknown. His death is dated to the year 635 of the Hijra / 1237–1238.
